Hello Yunyang

Chinese middle school students teacher Rain Oct 2010

"Rain" (in stripes) and I are surrounded by her students.

Thanks for clicking on my blog. I promised many of you this blog ages ago, and my best friend Lillie (teacher travel blogger extraordinaire) is kindly guiding me through the technological pitfalls of starting one. It’s been easier to learn to type Chinese than start this blog. No really, watch this….

nin hao yunyang?  您好云阳?(Pretty cool, eh?)

that’s “(formal) you good Yunyang?” Which is how one says: HELLO YUNYANG. My new hometown in Chongqing, China.

I look forward to sharing stories and pictures of my learning adventures in teaching and traveling while serving the second of a two year stint in the Peace Corps with all of you. I hope to keep my family, friends, former students, and colleagues enchanted with tales of how my foibles play out in daily life while training local English teachers in the mountains of Mid-West China.

I’m glad, Gareth, that you have established this blog. I’m looking forward to getting news from you and from time to time, I’ll share news from here.

That sounds great Uncle Joe! I’m looking forward to finally sharing all my pet theories on life and in China. Anything you could draw my attention to that’s happening in the US news about China would be greatly appreciated. I catch some things, but not everything.
